Building a heart healthy community

Why Living Well Starts with Your Heart

Our workshops meet people where they are in their health journey, providing practical knowledge and skills that support a longer, healthier life. From hands-only CPR training to cardiac nutrition education, we focus on living well—not only in moments of crisis, but in the everyday choices that shape long-term health. The American Heart Association estimates that up to 80% of cardiovascular disease is preventable, and these workshops help move that goal forward by equipping individuals and communities with tools to protect their heart health today and for years to come.

Hands-Only CPR & AED Training

Free | 1.5 hours

This 1.5-hour training introduces participants to the fundamentals of hands-only CPR for adults and teenagers, along with basic instruction on how to recognize sudden cardiac arrest and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). The focus is on fast, effective action in real-world situations—no prior experience required.

Designed for community members of all backgrounds, this training is ideal for individuals who want to be prepared to act in an emergency but do not need formal certification. Participants will learn how to recognize when CPR is needed, how to perform high-quality chest compressions, and how to confidently use an AED until emergency responders arrive.

This session emphasizes practical, approachable learning in a supportive environment and is especially well-suited for families, workplaces, schools, faith communities, and community events.

Please note: This training is not a certification course and does not include infant or child CPR or choking relief.

By making lifesaving knowledge accessible and free, this training helps ensure more people in our community are ready to respond when it matters most.

Nutrition 101

This class offers a practical and approachable introduction to nutrition, exploring how the foods we eat shape our health across the lifespan. Participants will learn what nutrition is and why it matters and be able to clearly identify macronutrients, essential micronutrients, and their roles in the body. The course also examines the foundations of a balanced diet, common health conditions that nutrition can help prevent or manage, and evidence-based recommendations for both adults and children. Along the way, learners will identify realistic ways to adapt their existing eating habits and gain simple, confidence-building tools to make navigating nutrition feel less overwhelming and more intuitive.
